I’ve been thinking a lot about what best motivates people.

It’s anger.

Not ambition or the hope of something better. When you’re stuck in a rut, or when you’re hopelessly helpless (or helplessly hopeless, take your pick) these two aren’t enough.

And no, it’s not revenge either. Revenge is fueled by something more basic, more primal even. (Let’s have you attempt to steal food from your docile pet while it’s feeding… See what I mean?)

So if you see me losing weight, it probably means I’m angry about something.

Like how I can’t fit into my friggin’ pants.

Okay so maybe the previous argument isn’t too solid. Another really really good motivation is, wait for it! … Love!

*cue butterflies, twittering birds, smiling sun, rainbows, singing frogs, Barney, flamingoes-kissing-such-that-their-necks-form-a-heart, the works

I know, I know. It’s super cheesy and hardly fair. OF COURSE love has to be a motivator.

Just being real here. It’s true.

I don’t think I need to give a list of true stories of how people were able to move mountains etc etc because of their loved one.

I guess what I’m trying to say is, it’s just a matter of choosing what’ll move you to move mountains.

And by you, I mean me.

And by move mountains I mean get off the bed and start doing yoga or Jane “Grapevine” Fonda this instant.
